Sometimes it is necessary to install an IP camera where there is an Internet connection. As for example in an isolated farmhouse, or want to use temporarily. It is possible through a modem 3 G / 4 G USB and a 3 G router / 4 G with USB connection create a network.

3G 4 G connection settings for cameras P2P

P2P configuration is done in a way “opaque” to the user. UPnP settings allows you to connect to the server in P2P IP camera manufacturer. To make this document we have used a 3 g MR3020 TPLINK Router and a modem 3 G USB HUAWEI E173. We have used for the tutorial a camera manufacturer Tenvis, although you can follow the same process to other manufacturers.

We have chosen this model of Router a model very small, easy to carry and with 5V power. It is not essential to the case we are going to raise but it is interesting to be able to feed the Router using a simple USB connector.

Also keep in mind this tutorial is made with a 3g modem, but similarly, you can use a 4 g modem.

Installation requirements

  3. We connect with RJ45 IP camera cable to Router
  4. We feed Router
  5. We are looking for WiFi networks to locate the SSID of the Router
  6. Insert password marked as KEY to access network WiFi SSID router
  7. You enter the address of the gateway of the Router according to the example 192.168.0.254
  8. Be asked username and password to access the previous page. You must specify user name admin and password admin as marked on the sticker under the direction of the gateway.

We have made this example with a mobile phone via WiFi. You could also do it with a laptop or desktop, or connecting cable to the Router and changing the IP address range 192.168.0.x. XXX. But we have chosen to do the tutorial access via a mobile phone. We believe is the best way and that all the users have hand.

3g router modem configuration for IP camera

SET A FIXED IP CAMERA IP ADDRESS

To avoid turning off the Router or another situation can vary the direction of the camera IP will set up a fixed IP address. Enter in the configuration of the IP network camera – > IP and in the Network section – > to set a few values outside the range of the DHCP server.

In our case the Router assigns default IP address from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199. We have established the direction of IP camera 192.168.0.95 and port 1024

At this point activate the DDNS network service – > DDNS and take note of the DDNS address. We will use this address to access remotely later to the IP camera.

If you need to install multiple cameras IP you must follow the same process. The DHCP server automatically assign different IP addresses to each House but with the same port. You must be careful to install each IP camera with a different port.

Once saved the changes you notice as it appears IP address for the camera and the open port to gain access from the outside.

HOW TO CHECK IF THE IP CONFIGURATION OF THE CAMERA HAS BEEN CORRECT IN THE 3G ROUTER

If they are all the steps correctly you should be enough with the DDNS address followed by the port number to see the camera from another place. But do not find in our case it’s not possible to access the address of the IP camera

We will try to access on a temporary basis with the public IP address and the specified port. So open in your web browser the following page where to find the public IP address and copy the address with upper button to slide papers.

We open in a new window browser by pasting this IP address followed by a colon and the port number.

And look at the result is the same as when you access using the IP address. It is not possible to access the camera remotely, only accessible through the local IP address when we’re on the same network.

In some connections, it is not possible to access from the same network with a public IP address to itself. That is why we have tried from a computer on another network to this IP address and port, but with the same result.

Open a web page from which we can scan remote ports to confirm what happened. And we watched as the port in the public IP address indicated this filtering and cannot be accessed from outside.

CONCLUSIONS ABOUT TRYING TO ACCESS CAMERA WITH IP ADDRESS OR DDNS ON ROUTER 3G – 4G

Some 3G operators assigned an address private IP address comes from the IP publishes. To try to resolve the IP address assigned to the modem and doing a Ping from outside never response is received. I.e. accessing using DDNS and not meet the private IP assigned by the supplier would not be possible to access the camera. If the 3G provider makes the connection through a proxy not accessible remotely with DDNS. How to make the configuration of an ip camera to a 3g or 3gs using P2P Router

In this example, we have taken a TenvisP2P IP camera, in a model with the New Tenvis APP. Although the operation should be similarly in other P2P applications of IP cameras.
