The official implementation of Google Maps for our devices Android receives another serving of news with your new version 8.2, a new update that will progressively through Google Play to all users over the next few days.

The first novelty that we will see nothing but open Google Maps 8.2 for Android is that in the search bar now appears the the microphone icon rather than access to see our saved sites, reviews and maps offline. Now access to our sites is now in the sidebar.

The second novelty is found in the cycling routes, now it shows the elevation profiles on each of the routes, so that cyclists can choose the route that they see less hard for their elevations.

The third novelty, and it seems that at the moment only works in English, they are the voice navigation commands. Clicking on the new icon of the microphone can ask questions about our journey as:

  • Navigate to
  • What is the next turn?
  • Show traffic
  • Show alternate routes
  • Silence
  • What time will it arrive?
  • How is the traffic later?
  • Show an overview of the route

Another novelty is that now both on routes by car, to foot and public transport a Uber card appears on us if we move to using this controversial service of private transport, which only works in Barcelona in Spain.
